02. JINGFU TEMPLE

With a history of over a hundred years, Jingfu Temple is affectionately known by locals as the “Great Temple.” It is not only a center of local faith, but also an important hub for urban development from past to present. In earlier days, Zhongzheng Road and Minsheng Road both extended outward with Jingfu Temple as their core, forming thriving commercial districts. Having witnessed Taoyuan’s century of prosperity, Jingfu Temple has now transformed into a prime gateway for people to understand the historical trajectory of this land.

03. Nanchang Forest Sports Park

Once the site of the Army’s 21st Artillery Command, Nanchang Forest Sports Park has been transformed into a vibrant recreational space after a revitalization project launched in 2021 by the Ministry of National Defense in partnership with the city government. Today, the park features a covered leisure plaza, a semi-indoor open basketball court, badminton courts, and a table tennis hall—making it a perfect destination for both exercise and relaxation.

What makes the park truly special is its commitment to preserving the natural environment. By following the principle of “trees first, track adapts,” the running track was carefully designed to curve and weave around existing trees, creating a unique landscape where sports and nature harmoniously come together.

04. Da You Ecological Park

Located at the foot of the northwestern side of Hutoushan Scenic Area, near the end of Minfu 13th Street (beside the Dayou Fire Station), Dayou Ecological Park covers an area of about 2.1 hectares. The park is divided into three themed zones: the Ecological Terrace Area, the Delightful Dining Area, and the Forest Adventure Area.

Around the park, you’ll also find fitness facilities suitable for all ages, along with hammock and swing chair rest areas that provide a relaxing retreat for everyone. Strolling along the nearby green trails and Hutoushan Scenic Area, visitors can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and fully enjoy the refreshing beauty of nature.

05. Taolin Railway

Once used to transport coal and later transformed into a passenger commuter line, the historic Taolin Railway has now been reborn as a vibrant cycling and walking corridor. After Taoyuan’s upgrade to a special municipality, the city government launched an ambitious revitalization project, turning the old railway route into a scenic bikeway that has quickly become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

Along the path, especially at the Min-Guang East Road and Sanyuan Street section, glow-in-the-dark stones have been carefully embedded into the walkway. When night falls, the stones shimmer with a soft, enchanting radiance, evoking the dreamlike brushstrokes of Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The once-idle railway has been transformed into a dazzling “Starlight Avenue,” offering travelers a magical experience of cycling, strolling, and enjoying the night sky.

06. Hutoushan Park All-age-friendly Hiking Trail.

Hutoushan Park – The Back Garden of Taoyuan

Located right next to downtown Taoyuan, Hutoushan Park sits at an elevated position, offering sweeping views of the city while preserving rich greenery. Known as the “Back Garden of Taoyuan,” the park is designed with a variety of well-planned trail systems, each marked by distinct colors for easy navigation.

In addition to pedestrian walkways within the park, visitors can also enjoy seven circular hiking trails: the Scenic Health Trail, Cherry Blossom Trail, Forest Experience Trail, Sun Pavilion Trail, Plum Garden Trail, Ecological Interpretation Trail, and the Martyrs’ Shrine Trail. These routes make it easy for travelers to explore the diverse landscapes and fully appreciate the natural beauty of Hutoushan.

07. Taoyuan Martyrs' Shrine

Located on Hutoushan in Taoyuan City, the Taoyuan Martyrs’ Shrine was completed in 1938. Originally built by the Japanese as the “Taoyuan Shrine,” it is one of the most well-preserved Shinto shrines from the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan. Its architectural style is a blend of ancient Chinese Tang elements, Japanese influences, and modern Taiwanese features. Constructed with top-quality Taiwanese cypress, the shrine was officially designated as a municipal historic site in 1994.

Because of its unique historical and cultural significance, the site was also chosen as a filming location for the movie KANO, allowing audiences to vividly experience the memories of the 1930s.

Want to capture a 360-degree panoramic view of Taoyuan without climbing high mountains? Hutoushan, located less than 5 km from Taoyuan Railway Station, makes it easy! Standing at an elevation of just 251 meters, the park is the highest point in the city, offering sweeping, unobstructed views. From here, visitors can admire the sparkling night sky blending seamlessly with the dazzling city lights.

Renowned as one of the top scenic spots in the area, Hutoushan Environmental Park has long been a favorite destination for locals seeking breathtaking views of Taoyuan.

09. Nankan Creek Riverbank Bike Trail

In recent years, after the restoration of the Nankan River, the riverbanks have been transformed into lush green spaces, with clean and pleasant water quality. Under government planning, Taoyuan’s first riverside cycling path was established, complemented by diverse recreational facilities along the way, such as Taoyuan’s First Riverside Park, the Qingxi Rainbow Bridge, and the Pet Demonstration Park. Together, they have turned the area into a multifunctional riverside destination for leisure and recreation.

10. Taoyuan 77 Cultural Streets

The Taoyuan 77 Cultural Streets were formerly Japanese-style dormitories for the Taoyuan police. Located in the Shopping District in front of the Taoyuan Train Station, it is now a recognized historical site renovated to be a cultural park. It is one of the most popular social media photo and check-in points in Taoyuan.
It also features diverse spaces for exhibitions and performances, along with a garden filled with artistic and cultural ambiance. Taking a leisurely stroll here with a touch of Japanese style offers a truly relaxing experience.

In the past, almost every student in Taiwan owned a Liberty pencil, making it a shared childhood memory. With more than six decades of history, Liberty Stationery has transformed its factory to showcase a new and innovative look. The Namchow Taoyuan Tourism Factory is the first tourism factory in the Guishan Industrial Park. It is a place that combines education with entertainment, while also offering a delightful culinary experience.

The only international highlight robotics-themed tourism factory in Asia is located in Taoyuan. Inside, it features seven themed zones: Time Tunnel, Transmission Wisdom Island, Tech Treasure Land, Art & Culture Stage, Space Arena, Future Formula, and Taoyuan Innovation Island. Each zone is equipped with interactive robots of various types, along with professional engineers to assist visitors in experiencing the fascinating mechanics of robotics firsthand.
